  14. Dear Margie, I just learned of Ron’s passing. We lost touch of late, but he was a good friend in high school, and my college room mate at Beverly Avenue in Morgantown. We worked in the steel mills, too. I’m so very sorry for your loss. He lived a lot longer than he once thought he would. Back in the day of the Vietnam war, we were having a party to watch the draft lottery. Big party. We all put some cash in a pot to be won by the person with the lowest draft number, based on your birth date. The beer was flowing. The lottery numbers had just started when they called thirteen. Ron jumped up, beat his hands on the floor, convinced he was going to die for sure in some jungle. It was scary and a funny time. Ron always made us smile. God Bless.
