Ruble L. Tibbs, 77, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at his home. Born November 2, 1935 in Pughtown, WV, he was a son of the late Francis Ruble and Ora Powell Tibbs. He was also preceded in death by his son Melvin G. Tibbs, brothers Billy Gene and Oval Tibbs and sisters Phyllis McCoy and Merle Tibbs. For 21 years, including the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam, Mr. Tibbs served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. After his military retirement, he worked as an installer and linesman for Times Mirror Cable. He was a member of the NRA and loved to fish and hunt. He was known as a jack of all trades and, in his free time, enjoyed building puzzles and doll houses. Ruble is survived by his wife DeEtta S. Kester Tibbs of Weirton, whom he married July 16, 1960; son Francis L. Tibbs and his wife Jennifer of Wheeling; daughters Vicki Y. Kurensky and her husband Ricky of Follansbee, WV and Terry J. Farley and her husband Billy of Weirton; brothers Edward Tibbs of Cleveland, OH and Lilburn Tibbs of Fresno, CA; sister Lorraine Southerin Tibbs of New Manchester, WV; grandchildren Lori Burge, Samuel Kurensky, Bradley Kurensky and Sara Farley and great-grandchildren Louis and Lily Burge. Visitation will be held Thursday 5-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Interment will be in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.

    I once visited your loved one at Liza’s Place; and, during that December 19th visit, he seemed to be content as I sang Christmas hymns and had prayer for him. While I offer my sympathy, I also express my gladness and gratefulness, that he is now free from all illness, pain and suffering.

    May God’s peace and blessings be yours during this most tender season; and, may He give you many lovely memories, so that you may always have roses in December.
