Samuel (Gene) McPeek, 87 of Weirton, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1915 in Highland Ritchie County, WV the son of the late Howard and Jessie Laugh McPeek. His wife Nellie Shuman McPeek, five Brothers, Charles, Benjamin, Robert, John and Herbert McPeek, five Sisters Louise Dawson, Naomi and Bessie McPeek, Hester Jessee and Evelyn Smith also proceeded him. Gene retired from National Steel Corp. where he worked in the Blast Furnace Department as a millwright with 27 years service. He was a member of the 25-year club, Weirton Heights Church of Christ, and his hobbies included, hunting, gardening, and carpentry. He is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife Lois, Edward and his wife Linda, both of Colliers, and Frederick of Weirton, two daughters, Debra Casto and her husband Lawrence of Weirton, and Linda Barnhart and her husband Emery of Colliers. He has fifteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. He has a brother Homer McPeek of Bellevue, Ohio. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton and on Wednesday from 7-9 PM at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, 447 W. Myles Ave, Pennsboro, WV where services will be held Thursday March 6, 2003 at 10:00AM. Pastor James Rhodes will officiate. Interment will follow at Bearsville Fairview Cemetery in Tyler County.
