Sandra Joyce Hogan, 88, departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville.
Born on August 22, 1937, in Steubenville, Sandra was a daughter of Joseph “Vasil” and Anna Yacos Simbanin, and she was proud to be one of six siblings.
A 1955 graduate of Weir High School, Sandra dedicated her life to her family, becoming a beloved wife to her husband, Blaise Hogan, and a nurturing mother to her sons, Paul and Patrick Pagur. Sandra’s commitment to her family extended to her role as a grandmother, where she found immense joy and pride in her grandchildren.
A faithful member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Secular Franciscan Order, Sandra’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was known not only for her unwavering devotion but also for her warmth, creativity, and culinary talents. Sandra had a unique way of bringing people together with her delicious recipes, creating moments of joy and connection around the dinner table.
In addition to her love for family and faith, Sandra was an avid supporter of Pittsburgh sports teams, particularly the Steelers and Penguins. She also had a passion for reading, especially her Bible, and embraced a wide variety of literature, which enriched her life.
Her adventurous spirit led her to make many memorable trips, including visits to Florida to see her son Paul, as well as trips throughout Europe and the Caribbean, where she created lasting memories.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her first husband, SGT Paul Pagur, who sadly passed on July 24, 1980, brothers George, John, and Paul Simbanin, and sisters Marie Bonnizzio and Susan Ann Schell.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Blaise Hogan, and sons, Paul (Betty) Pagur of Punta Gorda, FL. Dr. Patrick Pagur of Springboro, OH. grandchildren, Laurel, Gavin, Laiken, Hayden Pagur, and Leah Hoover.
Friends can visit Sandra’s family on Friday, October 10, from 5-7 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 200 Preston Avenue. Weirton.
Sandra’s family has asked everyone to meet at the church on the Saturday for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am.
Fr. Anthony G. Thurston will preside.
Burial will follow immediately in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Sandra’s unwavering faith and love for her family and friends will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
I am so glad I got to see you and Sandy just a few weeks ago and spend some time together just before her passing. I know how difficult it is to lose a spouse and I am so sorry for your loss. I will pray for you and Sandy. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the services but I will be there in spirit.
