Stanley William Layman, 70, of Weirton, WV passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Weirton Medical Center. Born January 16, 1945 in Steubenville, OH, he was a son of the late Stanley D. and Marjorie G. (Lewis) Layman. Stanley retired from the railroad at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Weirton Elks, American Legion Post 10 and the VFW 2716. He is survived by his sons Charles R. and Bradley W. Layman, both of Weirton; daughter Marihelen (Lawrence) Sines of Richmond, OH; brother Michael (Patty) Layman of Mingo Junction, OH; and grandchildren Katlin Layman and Lawrence Sines, III. Visitation will be held Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11AM. Reverend Clint Quillen will officiate. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, OH with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.   1. Lisa,(Bill & Mark also), I am so truly sorry for the loss of your dad. Though I never got to meet your dad; I absolutely loved talking to him whenever he would call the store and would ask to speak to his “Girl”. Hang on to all of the good memories that you had with your dad Lisa because at the end of the day that is all that truly matters. You and your brothers are in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. My heart goes out to the entire Layman family, including his other children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who were oddly not mentioned in his obituary. I have many fond memories of spending time with Stan and his beloved daughter Lisa over the years. May God heal all of your hearts.

  4. Stan was a true soldier, with 2 tours of duty in Vietnam with the 5th group of the Green Berets. He went through many a harrowing experience over there. He knew how to be a soldier and survived all the odds, every veterans day I made it a point to wish him the same for the special day, I spent much time with Stan, and had many laughs, he was a good friend and will sincerely miss him, and will toast him the next time I’m at the Marl-Inn with his biddies of which I consider myself one.   9. May he rest in Peace.. so many memories of him over the years.. .The tours of duty in Vietnam and the Green Berets.. these stories always fascinated me.

    He will be very sadly missed.
