Stephanie P. Townsend 89, of Weirton, died May 3, 2002, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She was born August 18, 1912, in Charleroi, Pa., the daughter of the late Stefan and Paulina Vajci Kostolansky. Her husband, Carl Townsend; a son, Harry Townsend; her daughter in law, Janice Burkey Townsend; two brothers, John and Joseph “Corky” Kostolansky, also preceded Stephanie in death. Stephanie was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and St. Paul Christian Mothers. She is survived by two sons, Carl Townsend and his wife Joyce; Donald Townsend and his wife Rita, all of Weirton; her daughter, Polly Meredith and her husband Paul of Oviedo, Fl; a stepson, Boyd Townsend of Mingo Jct., Ohio; two brothers, Steve Kostolansky of Charleroi, Pa., and Paul Kostolansky of Clearwater, Fl; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, May 6, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9PM, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30PM. Funeral services will be10:00 AM Tuesday, at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Burial will follow at Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
