thomas cooper
On Monday, March 21, 2022, Thomas (Tommy) Patrick Cooper, 67, of Weirton, WV, unexpectedly passed away with his family by his side. Tommy was born in Weirton, WV on November 29, 1954, to the late Charles and Irene Cooper. He was one of nine children and is survived by his loving wife, Carol Cooper, three children, Charles, Zachary (wife Brittany Cooper), and Amanda (husband Gideon Bollino), two step-daughters, Courtney (husband Ethan Levendorf) and Taylor (husband Greg Engeler), and five grandchildren (Braxton, Adalind, and Callan Bollino; Hudson and Aubriella Cooper). Tommy was a lifelong resident of Weirton where he was well-known and loved in the community. Shortly after graduation from Weirton Madonna High School in 1973, Tommy joined the Weirton Police Department where he served for over 32 years, eventually becoming lieutenant. Upon retirement from law enforcement, Tommy became a full-time investigator for the West Virginia Lottery Commission in New Cumberland, WV. Working afternoon shifts provided him the opportunity to spend his mornings and early afternoons on the golf course. Tommy loved to golf, though that love couldn't compare to the love he had for his family. Tommy spent 10 years devoted to Carol, making her his wife on July 3, 2018. They shared a love for adventure and always looked forward to spending weekends visiting their children and grandchildren. Grandpa loved each of his grandchildren with all his heart and never missed an opportunity to show that love. Braxton, Addie, Callan, Hudson, and Aubriella will all grow up knowing how much Grandpa loved them. Tommy was a devout Catholic and attended both St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and St. Joseph the Worker Church. He could always be found (and heard) singing among the congregation at Sunday Mass. In respecting Tommy's wishes, a funeral or memorial service will not be held. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to Tommy's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in his honor. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our most sincere sympathy to Carol and all of Tommy’s family. May his memory be eternal❤️ Rick & Cindy Harcharik

  2. Charlene, Gary, Linda, Cindy, Mary Jean, Johnny, Scott, Chas, Zach, Amanda and last but not least… Carol! Where do any of us begin?! I am so deeply heart broken that my ornery friend has left our world. God the memories…starting w/us kids, our parents, I still remember when my mom babysat you guys when your mom delivered Scott – she fixed dinner, was cleaning up and Johnny came in and asked: Ann, did I miss dinner? He was alseep on the couch and no one woke him up! I am so extremely happy that I got to see Carol & Tommy at dinner 1 night, no more than 3 wks ago. Smiling and bragging on the kids and grandkids of course. He will be extremely missed and I feel blessed he considered me a friend. I will keep you all in my prayers.

  3. The Final Inspection” The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass. “Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?” The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
”No, Lord, I guess I ain’t,
Because those of us who carry badges
can’t always be a saint. I’ve had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I’ve been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny,
That wasn’t mine to keep….
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I’ve wept unmanly tears. I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear. If you’ve a place for me here,
Lord, It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t…..I’ll understand. There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God. “Step forward now, policeman,
You’ve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in hell.” Sleep well Coop, your clear for 10-7 James Hill/ Investigator WV Lottery Commission Retired
