Walter D. Churchill, 79, of Weirton, formerly of Bethel Park, PA, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at his residence. He was born on September 14, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Walter and Harriet (Baker) Churchill. Walter worked for 32 years as a machinist for Superior Valve in Washington, PA. He was a member of the Pittsburgh F & AM Lodge # 45 and Christ United Methodist Church in Weirton. Walter is survived by his wife, Margaret I. (Mackenzie) Churchill of Weirton, whom he married on September 14, 1943; two sons, Walter D. Churchill, Jr. of Bethel Park, PA and Craig Churchill of Weirton; one daughter, Mrs. William (Shirley) Ostrowski of Canonsburg, PA; one brother, Robert P. Churchill of Scottsdale, AR; five grandchildren, William Ostrowski, Jr., Edward Ostrowski, Tracy Ostrowski, Brandyn Churchill, and Cody Churchill; and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Saturday and 1-3 and 7-9 PM Sunday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11:00AM Monday. Burial will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Weirton Lodge AF & AM #171, and military graveside services will be performed by the American Legion Post 10, VFW #2716, and Tri-State Marine Corps.
