Walter Thomas Johnson, of Weirton, a generous and loving, husband, father and Dziadzi passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020. He was 74 years old. Walter was born in Cresson, PA on April 25, 1946, the second of four children born to William and Mildred Conrad Johnson. He graduated from Weir High School in 1964 and served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War Era. In 1971 he married Betty Andrews. They were blessed with 49 years of marriage, three children, and eight grandchildren. Walter was known to family and friends as W.T. or Tommy. He worked over 30 years in Weirton Steel, where he drove a truck. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing the area courses and fishing at Tomlinson Run and Raccoon State Park. Nothing compared to the time he spent with his family. He cherished the times with his children vacationing in Daytona Beach and Disney World. When the grandchildren were born he loved watching them and transporting to and from school. Most of all Tommy will be remembered for his generosity and his sense of humor which was sarcastic at times. 4. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Tom (as he was known to us) was one of our group of 5 that hung around during his years at Madonna High. Kind, understanding, but most of all funny as heck. We became friends at St. Joseph Grade School and maintained that friendship after high school. Regrettably not long after, careers, family, and distance resulted in our losing contact. One cannot turn back the calendar but I will always cherish the times shared. Les Halapy, Maryland, Madonna Class of ’64

  5. Our sincere sympathy and condolences to Walt’s family. Remember Walt as a quiet classmate at Weir High. So sorry for your loss, Betty and family. Sandi and Ray Gajtka
