William Franklyn Wells
February 12, 1937 ~ August 3, 2015
William Franklyn Wells, 78, of Weirton, WV died Monday, August 3, 2015, after a recent diagnosis of lung cancer.
Born February 12, 1937, in Wellsville, NY, He was the son of the late Burton and Opal Harris Wells. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judith LoPresti Wells on November 21, 2001.
Bill served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 until 1963. After 37 years of service, he retired from Weirton Steel, as an operator on the C.A. Line in the Tin Mill Department.
In his free time Bill enjoyed golfing and bowling. He golfed in the Monday Group at Ponderosa Golf Course and he bowled on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Holiday Lanes in Weirton.
He was a member of American Legion Post 10, VFW 2716, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.
He is survived by his sons, David (Patty) Wells and Doug (Tammy Montelione) Wells all of Weirton, WV; his daughter, Diane (Lisa Barker) Wells of North Canton, OH; six grandchildren, Samantha (Jonathan ) Yacoviello; Amanda (Kate Gilson) Kirkbride, Jordan (Cody Davidson) Wells, Cody Wells, Tyler Kirkbride, and Kayla Wells; and one great grandchild on the way ; a sister, Nancy Mc Keen; his sister in laws, Fran Sullivan and, Christine (Harold "Bubba" ) Miller; a brother in law, Larry LoPresti ; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Bill's wishes his body will be donated to the West Virginia Human Gift Registry.
