William H. Carnes, Sr., 74, of Weirton, WV died Saturday May 14, 2005 at the Crestview Health Care in Saint Clairsville, OH. He was born June 3, 1930 in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late William James and Anna Zambotti Carnes. William retired from Di Novo’s Chrysler Dodge Plymouth in Steubenville, where he worked as a mechanic for 55 years. He served 18 years in the U.S. Army, serving in both Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the VFW 2716 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 344. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Borza Carnes, whom he married on September 8, 1956; 2 sons, Joseph E. (Dina) Carnes of Weirton and William H. Carnes, Jr. of Wintersville, OH; 3 daughters, Cynthia (Charles) Williamson, and Tina M. (Frederick) Thompson all of Colliers, WV and Elizabeth A. (David) Klepp of Wellsburg, WV; 1 brother, Edward Carnes of San Carlos, CA; 1 sister, Mary Ann Hindman of Evergreen, CO; 7 grandchildren, Jodi Chafin, Mandy and Joe Carnes, Vanessa Swickard, Charles Williamson, Tiffany Wright, and Kayla Thompson; 2 great grandchildren, Anthony Goffoli and Gianna Chafin. Visitation will be Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday. Minister Steven P. Smithbauer will preside. Interment will follow with Military Services at the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Kidney Foundation. Tina and Family, I am so sorry for your loss.I am a little shocked,last time I talked to Fred he said they had moved your Dad to another hospital and he was doing so much better.I understand the hurt that you are going threw,I just pray that God will wrap his arm’s around you and your family and give you peace.To say that you will forget would be a lie,but someday this awful pain will give way to beautiful memories and they will get you threw the really hard time.If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.If you ever need to talk, I am a good listener.   2. Dorothy, Joe, Cindy, Beth, Tina and Bill, No words can fill the emptiness you all are feeling. Bill was an amazing human being he was always kind and compassionate towards others. He always spoke proudly of his family, greeted you with a smile and never said any thing negative about any one. I have many happy memories of him and very greatfull to have had him as part of my life. He will be deeply missed by all the people whose lives he has touched.
