william heiserman

William Joseph “Joe” Heiserman, 78, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville following a year-long battle with lung cancer.

Born on April 15, 1947, in Steubenville, Ohio, Joe was one of four children born to William and Ruth McGuire Heiserman.

He was a graduate of Big Red High School and a patriotic American who answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Upon returning home, Joe began a long and accomplished career as a pipefitter with the Local 495 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, dedicating over 35 years to his trade before retiring.

On July 20, 1998, he married Mary Kay Allen. From the moment they met, Mary Kay knew she had found her partner for life.

Joe had a passion for music and was known to pick up his guitar and play, bringing joy to those around him. He was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers Bobby and Johnny Heiserman, and his sister Donna Hieserman.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay; his son, Michael (Theta) Heiserman; his daughter, Julie; and his six grandchildren. Joe also leaves behind his four cats, Nick, Mesha, Sasha and Baby.

In accordance with Joe’s wishes, he will be cremated and no funeral services will be held.

Joe’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Mary Jane Brooks Care Center of Valley Hospice for taking care of Joe while he was there.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Hancock County Animal Shelter.
