Genevieve (Gen) Josephine Rumora, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2025, at Serra Manor in Weirton.
She was born on January 3, 1930, in Weirton to Frank and Victoria Bialkowski Waszak. Gen was a proud lifelong resident of Weirton and cherished her roots in the community.
Gen graduated from Weir High School in 1948 and dedicated her career to the service industry, working at GC Murphy and C&P Telephone before concluding her professional journey at Weirton General Hospital and Weirton Medical Center in the Business Office.
In her personal life, Gen was a woman of strong faith and found joy in crafting, spending countless hours knitting and crocheting beautiful pieces, many of which she generously gifted to friends, family, and those in need. Her kindness extended beyond her creations, as she always kept candy on hand to share with children she encountered, spreading sweetness wherever she went.
Gen was the loving wife of Michael “Mitch” “Eggs” Rumora, whom she married on October 20, 1956. They shared a deep bond until his passing on February 3, 2017. Together, they were often seen enjoying coffee at their favorite McDonald’s, a testament to their enduring companionship.
In addition to her parents and husband Eggs, she was preceded in death by her siblings Paul, Mary, and Julia.
She is survived by her son, Craig Rumora of Katy, TX, and daughter, Lynn Agans of Erie, Colorado, grandchildren Christian, Brenna, Rebekkah, and Jordan, and seven great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way.
Gen’s request for cremation will be honored.
She will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
Services for Gen will be conducted at the convenience of her family.
At her request, there will be no Services held for Gen. She will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with her husband, “Eggs.”
As we remember, Gen let us honor her memory through acts of kindness, whether through crafting, sharing a sweet treat, or simply offering a helping hand to those around us—just as she would have done. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Craig and family, our deepest sympathies as you grieve the passing of your dear mother. I remember your parents when we were in high school as being deeply devoted to their family and faith. Great witnesses! It’ s difficult to be orphaned no matter how old you are. I pray that our dear Lord will be with you all in this time of sadness with His abundant grace poured out upon you.
Love, Carole and Jeff Smay
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. While I never had the chance to meet her, I know she must have been a remarkable person to have raised someone as kind, joyful, and uplifting as you.
Please know that my heart is with you during this time of grief. I hope you find comfort in those who care for you, in quiet moments in nature, and in time with Scarlett and Gracie.
You bring light and laughter to those around you and I hope we can do the same for you. If there’s anything I can do—whether it’s lending an ear, sharing a walk among the trees, or simply sitting in silence—I’m here.
With heartfelt sympathy and care,
Beth
Please accept my deepest condolence on the loss of your Mom. Although I didn’t get the opportunity to meet her, based on what a good and strong person you are, she certainly was a source of the strengths in your family. Although this is a significant loss for you, know that all your friends and family are there to provide support and prayers.
May Gen rest in peace,
Mark Gintner
Many happy childhood memories always ❤️
