James R. Tucker

James R. Tucker, 89 of Weirton, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born June 26, 1924 in Richwood, WV, a son of the late James Owen and Laura Bell Stull Tucker.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Kathleen Young Tucker; brother, Eugene Tucker and a sister, Arheta Smithson.
In 1986, after 36 years of service, James retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a machinist in the tin mill.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
An avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, James's favorite pastimes included playing with his grandkids, golfing with his friends, and taking walks.
He was a member of the New Cumberland Lodge #22 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling, Osiris Shrine, Northern Panhandle Shrine Club, AARP and the WSX 25-Year Club.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his sons James Tucker and his wife Mary Ann of New Cumberland and Tim Tucker and his wife Donna of Weirton; 4 granddaughters Tiffany Devore and her husband Joshua, Jamie Stierwalt and her husband James, Shannon Tucker Matish and her husband Philip and Erin Tucker and 8 great-grandchildren Landon, Airiana and Braedon Landfried, Caleb, Logan, Kaitlyn and Alexa Devore and Liam Matish.
Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday.
Rev. Dana Snodgrass will officiate.
Interment will follow in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV, with Masonic services conducted by the A.F. & A.M New Cumberland Lodge 22.

To my dear brother-in-law, James. I have so many memories and will always be grateful that God sent you to my sister, and in turn, to me. You were more than a brother to me, and I will never, never forget the thing’s you and Kate did for me. Payday’s, and big juicy hamburger’s on Lino’s bread, and square pizza night and root beer in the big gallon jug. Waiting for the ice cream truck to come in the summer. Going skating in Follansbee. The Boy Scout’s camp in Slippery Rock, Pa. I think that’s where we were? Going to Illinois to pick up Glenna, Lenny and Lou ann, in a 57′ Chevy, and, might I add you, Kate, J.O., Tim, me and Frisky ! Yep we did that a couple of time’s. Rocking all my children when they were babies to bio bio baby bio, to the tune of Clementine. Picnic’s, and trips to the Buehl? planetarium. And, wedding’s , and babies… so many memories. I will always remember you and I will always love you. I know you are so happy now to be reunited with Kate. You will be missed by all your family but, because we know the Lord, we will all be together one great day !!My love goes with you, your little ” Peewee” Priscilla
I am so sad to learn of Jim’s passing. He was such a lovely man. I am certain a certain red-shoed lady was waiting for him with open arms! Tim, J.O., and all of you, please be assured of my love and prayers.

Uncle James, You will be missed. Im very sorry for your loss J.O. and Tim. I’m so greatful that I was able to come up last year and visit with y’all. My fondest memory was in your garage. You showed me how to tie a fishing knot. I use that same knot to this day 40 years later. Its never failed. You’ll always be a part of me by name. Thank You for that honor.
Let me start by saying how very sorry I am for your loss to J.O. and Tim. Uncle James was a big part of my life. I was named after my Aunt Kate, and Uncle liked that my mom named me Kathleen. When I was a baby my Uncle would rock me to sleep, with bio bio baby bio, to the tune of Clementine. My Uncle James made my first swing. He and Aunt Kate kept it in the basement and I would swing for hours singing and having a real good time. When summer came I knew where I was going to my Aunt and Uncle’s and I go to play with my friend Sue Ann. When we would run errand’s, and a Mc Donald’s came along, we would just have to stop for a chocolate shake. On trip’s we took my Aunt and Uncle were hilarious. My Aunt would tell my Uncle about something or other, and my Uncle would say, ” Now, Kate, I know how to drive this car.!” It was all so much fun. I will hear those word’s forever. So many memories and good times. Now they are both together , and they are happy with the Lord. Thank you for all you did for me . All my love goes with you and we will see you one day. jim was always a gentleman. i had the pleasure of knowing him while living at the high rise. i lived there ten years n moved 3 yrs ago. i use to love to sit n talk with him. sorry for your loss
