John W. Pastors of Weirton died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, November 3, 2022. He was 69 years old

He was born on February 2, 1953, in Steubenville to William Howard and Marie Andrews Pastors.

John was a Christian by faith, a 1970 graduate of Catholic Central in Steubenville, and was Head of Safety for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Steubenville retiring after thirty-plus years of service.

He never knew a stranger; he would do anything for anyone. John was a very straightforward man, if he liked you, he liked you, end of the story.

John enjoyed the great outdoors, especially fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was known throughout the area as a very accomplished gunsmith, practicing his craft for over twenty years.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marie and Sara Mooreland, brothers Merle, William, and James Yocum, and his furry friends at home Shadow his dog, and Fluffy the cat.

Left to cherish his memory with love and admiration are his wife Gina Pastors of Weirton, son Joe Fritch (Nicole) of Cincinnati, OH., Angie Cenarik and her significant other Jim Toothman of Carrollton, OH., Monica (Brian) Beatty of Weirton, Tiffany (Richard) Mendoza of Fairfax, Virginia, brother David Pastors of Martinsburg, WV., sister Marjorie (Lou) Fettig of Florida, grandchildren Jordan Cencarik, Kelsey Liepper, Adam Passmore, and Amber Slider, great-grandchildren Parker, Maison, and Callie Passmore, Benton, and Jayden Schaar, nieces Daniele Higgins, Rachel Pastors, Haley Albright, and Syrina Pastors, nephew William Pastors, and his pets at home, Bobby, Chaz, Pooh Bear, his dogs, Tiger the cat, Frederico Sky his Indian Ringneck Parrott and Baby his Umbrella Cockatoo.

John’s request for cremation has been honored.

No services will be conducted at this time.

  2. Deepest sympathy, prayers to John’s family. Worked with John at WPSC as a union safety coordinator. He was such a great guy with a big heart and ever so passionate about safety. The people he represented were very lucky to have such a committed person always looking out for their well being, He will be sadly missed by many.
